Smack me with a wet noodle..seriously!!!

I know, I know! I have bit the big one keeping you up to date. I got, and am still, hung up on her birthday post and have been dragging my feet ever since. I've decided, my issue is sharing the private words I want to say to my baby girl with everyone. At first, I thought it would be beautiful to share it.. but then I let myself get hung up on what someone else would think of what I wrote.. and you know how easily I can snowball something from minor to major lickity split. So, I've decided to keep it private for now and will try and share someday in the future.

Now for the updates! Whew! Busy we have been keeping ourselves! My last post was a lead up to her FIRST ever birthday! Yippee!!! How did we celebrate it? By getting sick of course!

On Monday the 17th, she had a full on body rash that looked like I had taken a little needle and poked her body thousands upon thousands of times. I freaked out! Called the after hours nurse line, they said it sounded to be more than likely a viral skin rash and that it would work itself out.

On Tuesday the 18th, she woke up with a bit of matting in her eyes. That evening after picking her up from daycare, there was major matting and watery-ness going on,but no red eye to suggest pink eye(whew!). She still had patches of the skin irritation. Being the good parents we are, we called our Doctors office, and they got us in at 6:45 that night. Doc took a look at her skin rash, her eyes, mouth etc.. got to her ears, and said.. 'It's not her skin rash or even her eyes I'm worried about. It's the MAJOR BACTERIAL INFECTION going on in her ears'.

Might I just say, I felt like the worst parent in the world here? She had a major ear infection, which was supposedly triggering some of these other things and I blew it. I did not pick up on any of her signs... Wait a minute.. what signs was she giving me you ask? Well.. she itched and tugged her ears.. but she always does that! The Dr's office thinks I'm nuts because I'm always asking about her tugging on her ears and they keep telling me.. not to worry m'am, she's just exploring her ears! SERIOUSLY????????? She gave no other clues. No crabbiness, no fitful sleeping, nada, nothing, zilch. How am I supposed to tell if you are sick child??

Ugh. Parenting Bafflement 101: Angie 0.. Kid 1.

Drama aside, we got some meds and on her BIRTHDAY we went out to eat lunch at one of J's and my favorite restaurants since.. well, you know, we were also celebrating our 3rd anniversary at the same time! After that we headed for the park where Daddy and Julia went down the slide multiple times, she got to swing by herself and with Mommy and we went in circles on the merry go round! Finally, we headed home and Julia got to open her gifts! We got her a little 4 wheeler that plays music and goes 'VROOM VROOM'. She loves it!!

Then Thursday came, Jules woke up with her body on fire. Take her temp.. 102.4. Yikes! Another call to the Dr's office, I'm told not to worry, her body will take care of it. Downside on Thursday? Major diaper rash. Horrific and nasty, my baby looked like she had 3rd degree burns on her bum! Medicine change and a treatment consisting of slathering on hydro cortisone, neosporin and butt paste later, we start to get it under control.

Friday arrives and we've had temperature range from 99.2 to 102.4 over and over again. Call the Dr's office, again(I think they think I'm nuts at this point), tell me not to worry, it's ok that she's running such a high fever and that I'm not supposed to worry until she's at 105!!!!!

Saturday arrives.. we started with 102.4 but by days end, have held steady at 98.7. Yippee, party is on!

Sunday is here and what happens? 102.2 is back. That's what happens. Birthday party is off. Baby girl is soo not well, Mom is ready to pull her hair out and Dad is desperate to keep both his girls happy.

The Dr's office? Did I call them? Of course. What did they say? It's NORMAL for a kid to run a temp over 100 for 4 days in a freaking row!!!! Am I the only one who thinks this is nuts???

Aye me. My poor baby. By Monday, she' broken the fever, the party's been rescheduled for the following Saturday.. and Mom is thinking.. OH MY GOODNESS. Please let next year not be so bad!!!

Again, drama aside.. I thankfully had that week off and was able to take care of her and she's well now(yippee!). Thankfully my hubby still loves me- even though I was a bit of a monster while dealing with the stress of trying to prepare for the party, take care of sick baby, clean house, take care of sick baby.. you get the gist of it right?
Hope all is well! I'll start on her re-scheduled Birthday party next but wanted to give you a break before loading you up with this one and that one together!!

Love, ang
