We were visiting the book store and she was cruising in the stroller with me. She's been asking for a bookbag and so we perused the ones on display there. I let her pick one out- thinking maybe this would be hers to go home with us. Mistake #1
We then went over to the kids section and I kind of forgot about her holding the bookbag after Jason talked me out of buying it. Instead of upsetting her right then and there and taking it away, I decided that when she put it aside, I'd casually replace it back on the shelf. Mistake #2.
After a short browsing stint, she fell asleep. Mistake #3.
I didn't want to disturb her so I kept browsing the kids section looking for some Halloween books. I found a lot of them and many others so I decided to sit and peruse them. Mistake #4.
Evenutally, I noticed something was behind her and... crap. It's the bookbag.
She was out cold and I didn't want to wake her so I figured I'd browse a bit more and pull it out from behind her before I went to check out. Mistake #5.
I go to check out. I pay for Olivia and sign up for the kids discount club. In the hub-a-loo, I forgot about the bookbag.. again. Mistake #6.
I enjoy my peaceful stroll over to our car. Mistake #7.
I load our purchase into said car and begin to unstrap my child from her stroller... 'hey.. what's... oh no.. oh nonononononono. Crap. Crap. Crap. Seriously? SERIOUSLY?
Yep. Seriously.
I wrestle my oh so heavenly sleeping toddler from her stroller, into her car seat, load it all up and make a phone call that went something like this:
I dial Barnes and Noble.
'Good Afternoon, Barnes and Noble, this is Nick.'
'Uh, hi Nick. I have a sort of odd favor to ask/request of you. I apologize, I was just in your store with my toddler and she fell asleep in her stroller while in there.. I didn't realize it until after we left your store but.. well.. she fell asleep on one of the bookbags we were looking at and used it as a pillow (yep.. it was seriously cute!). So.. haha.. we left your store with a few more items than we paid for. Would you mind meeting me out front so that I may return them to you?'
He said.. 'Uh.. you want me to meet you in front of the store?'
'Yes, she's still sleeping and I'd prefer if I don't have to wake her up to just hand the bookbag back to you. I'm really sorry.'
He said.. 'Uhm. ok. You're outside?'
'Yes, I'm driving right over from the Von Maur parking lot, I'm in a blue etc, etc.'
He said.. 'Uh, Ok. '
I roll up to the front entrance.. haha. roll.. get out of my car and this older guy comes out with an extremely perplexed look on his face like he's not sure if he should call the cops or can't quite figure out why I didn't just run with the goods and shout with glee...
Anywho.. as I was carrying it up, I realized it was kinda heavy and sneaked a quick peek inside.. Nope.. not empty.. not only had my sweetling snagged a book bag but she had filled it with a few books..... whoa...
So.. here's our documentation.

Notice the cute little orange straps she managed to wrap around each arm? Looks sweet and innocent right?
The thefted item.
Yep. Fun adventure. Love it. Good thing 7 is a lucky number or something.. might have gotten arrested on 6 or 8 mistakes.. whew.. 7 is good...
