Yep. We've seen it all these last few weeks. Jules got the tubes taken out of her ears. She'd developed an earache 4 weeks ago.. it didn't go away.. her pediatrician sent us back to the ENT who said 'YIKES' and promptly advised us to schedule an appointment immediately for removal.
You see, there is a steroid in the drops they had given us for her earaches. Instead of healing, her eardrum and the steroid went wild and had a party. She developed polyps and scar tissue in and out, over and under and all around said tubes... which is a BAD thing.. she couldn't heal her own earaches, which if left untreated, could take away her hearing.
Not an option.
So.. we went in, got them out and are now holding our breath.. because less than 9 days after the surgery.. she got another earache. I'm going out on a limb here and I think we're going to be trying alternative medicine and seeing a chiropractor. I've heard some really good things about others and tykes and earaches so.. cross your fingers and wish us luck.. please?
Doctors, doctors and doctors. It seems we can't get enough of them lately. The night before Jules surgery I was at Lincare, the local after hours non emergency medical center. I'd been having this insane pain that would go from my kidneys to up front and vice versa.
The verdict? They didn't know. Tests were negative and I got a lot of speculation about what it could have been. Next morning I was right as rain.. don't laugh but I think it was.. ah hem.. dare I say it.... gas. Yep. It was just like my first trimester with Jules.. I'd had an extra soda or two in anticipation of Jules surgery and I think it was the trigger. Carbonated beverages sometimes do funky things with me...
The Saturday following Jules surgery though.. that's another story. I got sick. The toilet was my best pal. Jason gave me an anti nausea pill before leaving for work that night and it was not a good cocktail for me.
I ended up having some weird controllable/uncontrollable shaking like spasms. I was conscious, I knew what was going on but things were happening and it was scary. I told him about it the next morning since I was still kinda out of it. Sunday afternoon I had a few more 'episodes'. We decided to head to the emergency room to be safe. Tests and more tests later and guess what... Nada. Not a clue.
Amazing right? Two major ka-bangs for me and they looked at me like I was insane both times. Looking at the bright side.. they did a CT scan and nothing abnormal was up there so... I wasn't experiencing seizures which I was a bit worried about.. Jason and I think it was the anti nausea pill that did it.. Not my cup of tea that pill.
Other than that.. I've been painstakingly, excruciatingly slowly working on her playroom.. kinda running out of gas on that one. I just need to get her shelf up to get things going but... you know how just one thing can be a major hurdle? Well, the shelf is mine. Calgon.. come take me away!!!! haha.
Jules has loved running and playing outside. We can't seem to get enough of the sunshine lately. She's got her own little set of yard utensils to use when we are out working in the yard.. She is such wonderful big helper! I love it!
I've got a new phone and I've become one of "those" people according to my hubby.. Constantly playing with it I am!
Jason had his birthday in all the goings on above. Ironically it was on Friday.. two days after the surgery and the day before my big meltdown! Jules and I made a picture for him.. well, she painted it and I framed it! Looks pretty darn cute too! We had some yummy dinner and kept it a nice and easy night.
There's been lots more going on.. but I'm drawing a blank after the medical drama! Plus.. I have photos to share.. but I haven't downloaded them yet so... maybe I'll work on that tonight so that I can get you some adorable pictures to check out!
Take care,
Ang
