Busy, busy, busy, busy, busy as a Bee!

Whew. Time is flying and so are we! We’ve had a fantastic couple of weeks recently and are now looking forward to planning out her 1 year birthday party that’s just 6 weeks away! Ah-may-zing!

On March 19th Jake had his 10th birthday and Julia celebrated her 10 month b-day with him! Bless him; he has the patience of a saint when it comes to her! She’s recently discovered she can tackle him and give him love squeezes while squealing loud enough to make him cringe... of course the cringing may be from the love squeezes too.. They’re still pretty rough at this stage!

Shortly after that, on the 21st of March, Julia attended her first Shrine circus. We weren’t sure how she was going to respond to it, but game to try it since she enjoyed Sesame Street so much.

We treated ourselves to all the circus goodies we could carry; popcorn, hot dogs and cotton candy! Braced our ears for the loud and obnoxious toys the older kids were playing with. Sat down- where I promptly spilled all the popcorn, dropped the water bottle where it flew down between the seats and disappeared into never, never land and eventually gave Julia her first taste of cotton candy! She was a wee bit perplexed as to why she couldn’t grab it out of her mouth like she can her cheerios but was a mighty big fan of the sticky gooey stuff!

We found out Julie wasn’t really interested in the goings on of the performers but loved watching the spectators behind us and kept trying to pet the little boy sitting next to us. Poor kid! Maybe next year she’ll be more interested in the sparklies going on in front of us!

On the 25th Jason celebrated his 35th birthday! Happy Birthday to you Baby! Since he worked that night we didn’t do a whole lot. I baked him a Reese’s peanut butter cup Devil’s Food Cake that I found on Bakerella’s website. I’d never made a double layer cake or frosting from scratch or even a Devil’s food cake for that matter. All in all though, it wasn’t too shabby! He liked it and I was pretty happy about the accomplishment! I made a nice dinner, woke him up (ha ha!) and we had a little celebration before Julia was off to bed!

That weekend, to celebrate further, we had a night on the town while Mom came up and stayed overnight with Julia. It was really, really nice. Just him and I and some quality time together! Next time we may need to see how Grandma and Grandpa Jack feel about doing an overnighter now that we’ve, or rather I, have had the first night away from baby!

Kaity had her 19th birthday on the 27th, Happy Birthday little one! She was up on that Friday for dinner with Dad and Kameron but the dinner got pushed back by about an hour so we weren’t able to make it. Really bit the big one, I was excited to see her and Hailey, but it was cutting it too close to Julia’s bath and bedtime and when her schedule gets mixed up she tends to have problems sleeping well.

That same Saturday, Julia attended her first Easter Egg Hunt! What a blast! She had no idea what to do(for obvious reasons!) so I sat her down right next to a couple of eggs where she promptly grabbed one and held on tight! The little tykes running around us were squealing and laughing so you can imagine, our little observer had to watch and see what everyone else was doing instead of listening to Mommy and Daddy trying to explain to her to place her pretty egg in her basket! Grandma and Grandpa Jack were able to join the festivities with us and we had a great time with them!

Let’s see, the following week was fraught with Julia waking in the middle of the night screaming her little heart out. Her 8th tooth is trying to make its appearance and it’s struggling something fierce. Her 7 others were a breeze. This one though, the poor thing is just miserable. It’s been almost 2 weeks now since it began and we are able to see just the wee tip of the top poking out. Hurry up already tooth!

That about brings us up to date! Jason and I invited our immediate families over to dinner for Easter and had a really great time. The weather was absolutely beautiful! The dinner delicious and I didn’t have too many control freak episodes... just a few but thankfully my Mom was willing to forgive me! Love you Mom!

The only downer on Easter was Jason’s sister Sarah is not feeling well and was admitted to the hospital on Saturday. She’s been there ever since and it looks like she’s going to be there for a while. We hope she has a quick recovery and gets better soon. Love you Sarah!

Well, I think I’m out of words... surprise right? I really, really need to get back to once a week updates so that I don’t hurt your eyes so much with these mongoloid blogs!

Take care!

Love you all – Ang

P.S. I failed to mention this earlier but my friend Hilary and her husband Jason are expecting their 2nd child in September. Congrats to you both Hil! I wish you the best on your pregnancy and in your adventure of trying to sell your home!

  1. First off, thanks for the shout out! So sweet of you.

It sounds like you guys have been super busy lately! I love that you've taken her to all those events, we haven't even tried any b/c we're too nervous she'll freak out and we'll have wasted the money. But maybe next time a fun one comes through town we should try!
