Week 14

Goodness I love my daughter. I keep thinking how blessed I am by her presence. She has such a fantastic smile and such beautiful eyes I am happy to just sit and hold her.

She was pretty busy last week. Friday, she had her first case of the flu. A nasty 24 hour bug that slowly made it's way through our whole family. By Friday night she was tired but ok. Saturday at 2am though, Jason was not ok. By 6:30 we were taking him to the emergency room he was so thoroughly sick. I'm not sure if he had more than 2-3 breaks between bouts of throwing up. They gave him some anti nausea medicine and an IV to re-hydrate him. On Sunday, he and Julia recuperated and I tried to be a good caretaker while secretly thinking, yippee, it missed me! Not so fast chickadee. Monday morning I woke up with my body aching and my tummy churning. Tuesday was recover for me and Jason was the caretaker at that point.

The good news of all that though is we did not infect anyone else(surprisingly). Mom was passing through town on Saturday during her return trip from Missouri and Julia and I went over to Lakey's to see both her and Lakey. So far, neither have gotten sick. The bad news though is we missed my Grandpa's, 85th birthday party. It was that Sunday but to be safe, we didn't want to risk infecting anyone else so we stayed home. Good thing too since it struck me on Monday.

Then this Thursday, I took Julia to JC Penney's to get her 3 month shots. Never again. Baby safety is not on the top of their agenda. They put her on a 2 foot pedestal with a small sunken in pillow on top. BABY moves people!!! Baby can wiggle out and she nearly did on multiple occasions. She kept telling me 'Mom move your hand' and I kept saying 'No'. I wasn't trying to be difficult, which I realize I technically was, but I was not going to let my baby fall out and not be able to catch her because someone who has no interest in my child, other than taking her photo, told me to move back when my instincts are screaming 'THIS IS NOT SAFE'. So, I had toyed with not doing a professional photographer for her 6 month shots but would rather pay more up front for a)safety b)originality c) fun d)more options. It was way more fun when Sophia took her photos and we had way more opportunities to try different things rather than be on a short time table.

Lastly, our little pumpkin had her first trip to the Zoo this Saturday! She went with Grandma and Grandpa Jack and from the looks on her face in the photos, had a blast!!! I'm a little envious I didn't get to see her face and expressions the whole time but the pictures are so great it's just about as good as being there! I am so excited to see more of them!

We have our easy week coming up and a bit of traveling planned. I'll save the details for our next post though! Ha Ha! My version of a cliffhanger...well, if you really find that as a cliffhanger....I don't know what to tell ya.

Take care and have a great week!

Love, ang
