She was utterly and completely devoted to her Chia pet. After ten days of patience the labor of her love began to show sprouts and you would of thought she had been given a new puppy she was so excited!
Sadly, not too long after sprouting, Chia had an accident and didn't survive the fall. My best guess is, since we had it on her dresser for best sunlight during the day, she was up on her stepstool trying to spritz all sides of her pet. I'm guessing when she tried to spritz the back, her water bottle may have nudged the plate it was sitting on just enough to make it fall to the floor and break.
Jason said he heard a thunk and then soul wrenching cries coming from her room. He ran back there to find the chia laying on it's side with a leg broken off. He said while he was trying to comfort her, she would say 'But I loved it Daddy, I loved it so much' while sobbing her little heart out.
She was utterly heartbroken.
About a week later we tried another one because she enjoyed the first so much but it wasn't the same. I've been spritzing the dickens out of it but Scooby just isn't as precious as the elephant was and has not really captured her attention either. Maybe it was too soon? Maybe the magic was just in the beginning of taking care of something so precious and when it broke, it took the magic with it?
Here's a few moments with Daddy and her Chia:
Spreading the slime!
Sprouts!
Sprouts and an accident...
So sad.
Hearing of her heartbreak while at work and knowing I couldn't be there to comfort her was so hard but so beautiful at the same time. I kept thinking how many girls get to have their Daddy hold them over their first heartbreak? Not only that but knowing he will hold her as long and tight as she needs until she is ready to let go.
That to me is so unbelievably precious and
I am so thankful that she has such a wonderful Daddy
to build that relationship with.
