We had a wonderful Christmas! Julia was a blast to watch and she knew exactly what to do.. destroy the paper holding the box that must be eaten! Yum-O. Kid cracked me up! I just wish there was a pause button that I could have used. It seemed like everything was so rushed and I wanted to slow it all down so that I could savor each moment of her first Christmas. But, it seems one of those has not been invented yet, so, I will treasure the happy ones I was able to catch and tell you all about it! So, buckle your seatbelts and make sure you have a cushion for your bum, we're in for a long one!
Picture this.. Christmas Day, Jason and I jumping in anticipation of giving our little girl her first gifts! Jason asks 'Do you know where the camera is honey?'. I say, 'Yeah, it's downstairs by the computer.' I happily trot downstairs, grab the camera and stop dead in my tracks. I have made the worst blunder ever. I forgot to turn the darn thing off the night before and the battery is totally ka-put. No juice whatsoever. None. Nada.
Thankfully, our back up camera is fully charged. The downer though, its video function, does not capture sound. Blasphemy right? Oh well, slap me with a wet noodle, we refused to allow this blunder of mine ruin our good times. We took pictures and pictures of our little ones seemingly pro approach to unwrapping gifts. She's supposed to just bang on the box right? No so for our Julia. She knew to go for the weakest link in the wrapping paper and RRR-III-PPPPP. Pull it off, smack it a bit, make it nice and crumply and... into the mouth it goes! Mmmmm. Christmas paper good!
Along with the gifts she received from everyone, Mother Nature seemed to want to add to the lot and gifted her with her first upper tooth! Go baby girl go! 'Ain't nobody gonna bring me down.. oh no.. I got to keep on movin'... Seriously, karaokee anyone?
A few days later we were able to celebrate Christmas with Jason's family at his Aunt and Uncle's house. Julia was the belle of the ball and brought smiles to everyone's faces! She once again showed off her skills at opening presents and promptly fell in love with the singing, moving, flying butterfly Grandma and Grandpa gave her! Loves that thing! Seriously loves it!
She also had another visit from Mother Nature that day and her second upper tooth came in that night. Surprisingly she wasn't fussy throughout the day, so we had no clue it was en route. She's a champ at getting them in. She gets a little fussy and viola! 'Whoomp, there it is!'
Seriously, having issues with songs tripping out my fingers here. Bad Angie, bad!!!!
We kept it pretty quiet on New Years Eve. Jason had to work that evening so Julia and I pal'd around. She went to bed early and I worked on getting one last post in before her birth year ended. I was so engrossed, I missed the countdown. Oh well. When I realized I missed it, I set out sending text messages to family and friends wishing them Happy New Year! When I got to Grandma and Grandpa I thought I'd better give them a call. Grandpa is always up and on the computer so I went for it. Bad Angie strikes again. They were both asleep and when they realized I was calling to wish them a Happy New Year.. Grandma cursed me. Literally cursed me for frightening her. She said she hoped 'that baby wakes up and keeps you up all night long'.
Well, your wish was granted Grandma! Julia woke up at 1:36am and did not fall asleep until 3:17am. Lo and behold, Mother Nature was not done with her yet and proceeded to gift her with her 3rd upper tooth. Poor thing.
Since then I took a CPR class on the 6th and Julia is seriously encroaching her 8th month of life. We've had a blast playing with all her new toys and dressing up in her new outfits!
...and speaking of handmade, Julia received these handmade ornaments from her Grandma Diane:
They are so soft and cute! They will be a treasure to hold always!
Well.. I think that about brings you up to date.. If you're still with me, bless you! I know it's a lot but, hopefully it will tide you over for the next one!
Take care and Happy New Year everyone!
Love,
Angie
