Week 21..and we're off!!!

Whew! A busy week this one was! First off, I must give a fantastically huge shout out to my Grandpa! Love you Gramps! I'm so happy to hear that you are home and doing well! I'm hopefully going to be able to journey down your way Tuesday or Wednesday of next week to give you some company while you recover from your surgery! I 'spose, I'll be bringing the little one along for the ride so she may be able to perk you up a bit too!!!

Busy week right? Loads of fun though! On Tuesday and Wednesday Julia was off to daycare and I had grand plans to work on the yard. I have been itching to get all of the cutting back, mowing, trimming and final weedings done. The mowing kinda didn't go so well. The lawnmower made a rururur... rurururur noise. So, I primed it as my husband told me to do and... rururur.. rururur.. I thought I'd give a bit to rest but on the 3rd attempt and a 3rd receipt of rurur... rurururururururur. rurur. I gave up. Lawnmower 1, Angie 0.

Lets see... the next item on my list. I had already taken in our outside plants, much to Jason's dismay, last Thursday, so all I had left to do was sweeping up the cobwebs from the 8 legged uninvited guests that had begun to spin their webs around our nooks and crannies. Easier said than done though. Did you know spiders could survive in 30-40 degree temps? and when bashed with a broom, don't die? They just run faster? Yeah.. not my idea of fun. Nope. Not at all.

So... off to weeding I went. I figured I'd gotten that far, not much worse could happen right? Wrong. In my generosity, I let Jake and Riley out with me in the backyard. Will I ever learn not to turn my back on Riley? She jumped the fence.. again. We'd only been outside for about 10 minutes and whoopsidaisy she went. Needless to say, she lost her outdoor priveleges and had to watch Jake and I from the comfort of the closed patio doors.

Then I noticed, Jake was hunting. Again. He's got a knack for catching moles. Me, the bleeding heart, has a knack for chasing him around the yard trying to save said mole. He, being the proud hunter, wants to play and fling his prey up in the air, pounce and roll, lick lick and repeat. Me, I like to try to talk him out of said toy, distract, run and fling said animal into neighbors yard so if it's got a chance to live, it lives there and not in mine. Incorrigable I know.

By Tuesdays end, I'm exhausted and it's time to pick up the little squirt. We play, have fun and go to bed.

Wednesday, I had planned to finish up the last little bit of yard work after dropping her off at daycare but ended up instead coming home, and promptly falling asleep. For the ENTIRE afternoon!

That night, Julia went to stay with her Grandpa for a few hours while I went to a class about making baby food, some tips and tricks and a few 'networking' contacts were made to learn about Mom & me groups. I'm trying to broaden our horizons and meet other parents. My circle is very limited and my friends are either childless, have older children or live so far away, it's hard to get together.

Hmmm... this last Friday, we went on our first overnight visit to Nana's! We got into town a little early so we stopped by Julie's shop in Hastings and visited with her and Mary for a bit while we waited for Mom to get off work. After that, we ran to Earl Mays and I introduced Julia to Doug, who is one of Ben's, my brother, good friends from years past. Bonus for this trip, we found some great pumpkins and gourds to decorate the house with!

On Saturday, Aunt Lakey arrived in town and we went troopin' on out to the pumpkin patch out by Glenville. Julia had a fantastice snooze the majority of the trip but Mom, Lakey and I had a blast! We took some goofy photos, raced down slides, explored our first corn maze.. which was quite goofy! I am so excited to share the photos but.. they are on Mom's camera since I forgot mine at home. I'll be able to post them in a week or two to share and hopefully you will love them as much as we do!!

That about sums it up. Sunday we got to spend with Jason. The three of us finished up our yardwork, Jason played my knight in shining armor and killed 1 of 3 GINORMOUS spiders that I swept off the back windows and doors. The other two.. well, one was on a window sill and you'd think I would have learned from Tuesdays experience that brooms don't kill.. but no. Had to try it again and now I don't know if it's alive or dead. The other one, size of a fifty cent piece mind you, ran so darn fast, I didn't have enough time to scream and dance before it had disappeared. Jason really tried to find him though. Each looked like a wolf spider so I really really hope we get their tushes frozen off soon.

Whew! Lots to type here and my hands are starting to go numb. Hope you enjoyed the novella!

All my love,
Ang

P.S. Julia's first snow!
