Week 26

Happy Love week everyone!! Hope you were able to give and receive some extra special attention on Valentine's Day! Jason surprised me with a gazillion tiny roses on Monday. They were beautiful...until Jake decided he needed some greens to chew on and knocked the vase off the table spilling water everywhere!! Thankfully it must have happened right before I got home from work for they had not wilted too much. The beast. I love him but sometimes...'to the moon Alice, to the moon!!'

Well, we are almost to the end of our 2nd trimester and according to, What to Expect When You're Expecting, Baby is weighing in at approximately two pounds and is about 9 inches long from head to rump. Baby has also started opening his/her eyes this week. It's been suggested we try the flashlight trick to see if we can get Baby's attention while shining it on my belly!

Baby has also started taking 'breaths' this week and is able to hear the goings on outside the womb. Jason and I have been taking turns reading to Baby at night. Jason seems to have the magic touch at story time though. It seems that when he starts one, Baby does a few acrobatic moves and settles in.

Last but not least, we've successfully emptied the shoes and purses out of what is now known as our nursery. Our crib is to be delivered next Tuesday so I'm getting a wee bit excited about setting up the nursery now that I'm over the hump of clearing out my things! So far, I've not gone overboard on decorations. I'm framing some pictures from a poster I found a few years ago. It has 4 different scenes that I am cutting out to hang seperately. I ran across some inexpensive frames that came with matting so I just need to have the photos and matting cut to fit nicely together. I've been randomly picking up some children's books and a few other knick knacks to bring a bit more of a nursery feel to the room. Other than that, it's just a little bit here and there to add the last touches. Once we're complete, I'll post a before and after photo to see what you all think!!


Here's a happy photo of Jason and I around Thanksgiving. I tried taking one this morning for our Valentine's Day annual photo but we're both sick so..it's not a pretty one!
